Journal Prompts for Visualisation

Inspired 🌙 Reflective 😌 Calm

Visualisation is daydreaming with purpose, the deliberate act of seeing with your mind's eye what does not yet exist. Evening is an ideal time for this practice, when the boundary between imagination and reality softens. These prompts guide you to picture, feel, and write your way into the life you are building, and sit naturally beside intention setting and goal-setting work.

  1. 1 Close your eyes for a moment and picture yourself one year from tonight. Where are you? What surrounds you?
  2. 2 Describe your ideal morning in vivid sensory detail: what do you see, hear, smell, taste, and feel?
  3. 3 Visualise a challenge you are currently facing being resolved. What does the resolution look like?
  4. 4 Write about a place, real or imagined, where you feel completely safe. Describe every detail.
  5. 5 Picture the person you are becoming. What are they wearing? How do they move through a room?
  6. 6 What does success look like for you right now, not in the abstract but in the specific, daily texture of life?
  7. 7 Visualise a conversation you need to have going exactly as you hope. Write the dialogue.
  8. 8 Imagine you are standing at the end of your life, looking back. What do you most want to see?
  9. 9 Describe an ordinary evening in the future you are working towards. What is different from tonight?
  10. 10 Write about a goal as though it has already been achieved. Use the present tense.
  11. 11 Picture yourself receiving something you have long wanted: a letter, a call, an opportunity. How does it feel in your body?
  12. 12 Visualise tomorrow going beautifully. Walk through it hour by hour in your mind.
  13. 13 What image or scene keeps appearing in your daydreams? What is it trying to tell you?
  14. 14 Write about a version of your life where the thing you fear most never happens.
  15. 15 Imagine you could design the perfect room to journal in. Describe it completely.
  16. 16 Picture someone you admire. What qualities of theirs can you visualise growing within yourself?
  17. 17 Visualise the feeling of deep rest. What does it look like, and what has to be true for you to reach it tonight?
  18. 18 Describe a day, from waking to sleeping, that would leave you feeling completely fulfilled.
